In 2011, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) received a record number of job discrimination complaints, topping out at 99,947 discrimination charges. The most common complaint was “retaliation,” followed by “racial discrimination.” New to the EEOC in 2011 was the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act, which bans discrimination based on genetic information and family history.
