Protecting the Victims of Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment is one of the most common forms of unlawful harassment. There are two distinct forms of sexual harassment: quid pro quo (Latin for "this for that") and "hostile work environment."

  • Quid pro quo sexual harassment occurs when an employee is required to submit to unwelcome sexual conduct as a condition of his or her job or to gain some job benefit.
  • Hostile work environment sexual harassment occurs where an employee is subjected to verbal or physical, severe or pervasive unwelcome conduct, which is because of his or her sex.

Both types of sexual harassment are illegal. Sexual harassment may be committed by both men and women, and the victims of sexual harassment may be male and female. Additionally, sexual harassment may occur between individuals of the same sex: a man may sexually harass a man and a woman may sexually harass a woman.

Obtaining Maximum Compensation for Victims of Unlawful Harassment

Although sexual harassment is perhaps the most well known form of unlawful harassment, it is not the only type of unlawful harassment. If you have been subject to harassment based on your race, national origin, gender sexual orientation, age or disability, you may have a legal claim.

To rise to the level of unlawful harassment, the words or conduct in question must be severe or pervasive. If you are a victim of harassment, you should immediately report it to your employer. To fully protect your legal rights, you should also come to our law offices to speak with an experienced employment lawyer.

Our attorneys will handle your sexual harassment claim with sensitivity and dignity. As employee rights attorneys, we utilize the law and the legal system to obtain justice and maximize our clients' compensation.
